FAQs
1. What is telehealth therapy?
Telehealth therapy (also called online or virtual therapy) allows you to meet with your therapist through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You’ll receive the same quality of care and confidentiality as in-person sessions, all from the comfort and privacy of your home.
2. Does telehealth really work as well as in-person therapy?
Yes! Research shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions for most concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. Many clients even prefer it because of the flexibility and comfort it provides.
3. What do I need for a telehealth session?
You’ll need a quiet, private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone (like a smartphone, tablet, or computer). Before your first session, we’ll send easy-to-follow instructions to log in.
4. How do I schedule an appointment?
You can schedule directly through our online booking link or contact us by phone or email. We also offer a free 15-minute consultation to help you find the right therapist for your needs.
5. What are your hours?
We offer flexible scheduling options, including evening and weekend appointments, to make therapy work around your life.
6. How long are sessions?
Most sessions last about 53 minutes, though your first intake session may be a bit longer.
7. What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee.
8. Do you accept insurance?
Yes! Most of our clinicians are in-network with most major insurance providers, including Blue Cross (Highmark and Capital Blue), Independence Blue Cross (IBX), OptumHealth, Quest, Geisinger, UHD–United, Aetna, Oscar, and Cigna.
9. How do I know if my sessions are covered?
We recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to confirm your mental health benefits, deductible, and copay information. Clients are responsible for understanding their coverage and for any fees not covered by insurance.
10. What are your private pay rates?
Our rates are $180 for the initial intake session and $155 for 53-minute follow-up sessions. Payment is collected at the time of service.
11. What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept credit, debit, and HSA/FSA cards.
12. Who do you work with?
We provide therapy for children, teens, adults, and couples. Our clinicians have experience with anxiety, depression, intellectual disability, neurodivergence, non-binary individuals, trauma, life transitions, reproductive and maternal mental health, relationship challenges and more.
13. Does telehealth therapy work for children and teens?
Yes! For most children and adolescents, telehealth therapy can be highly effective. Research and clinical experience show that virtual sessions help young clients build coping skills, express emotions, and strengthen communication, just like in-person therapy.
Our therapists use age-appropriate, engaging approaches to keep kids and teens comfortable and involved. This may include games, visuals, drawing, or interactive tools that translate well to a virtual format. For older children and teens, telehealth often feels natural and less intimidating since they’re already familiar with online communication.
Parents are often included in sessions or provided with feedback and strategies to support progress at home.
In some cases (for example, very young children or those with certain attention or developmental challenges), in-person therapy may be more appropriate. If we believe that’s the case, we’ll discuss options and help you find the right fit for your child’s needs.
14. Do you offer medication management?
At this time, we do not provide medication management. However, we’re happy to collaborate with your psychiatrist, PCP, or other providers as part of your care team. We can also assist you in finding a provider who is in-network.
15. Is therapy confidential?
Yes, your privacy is our priority. All sessions are conducted on a HIPAA-compliant platform, and information shared in therapy is kept strictly confidential, except in rare cases where disclosure is required by law (e.g., safety concerns).
16. Where are you located?
We are based in Pennsylvania and provide telehealth therapy to clients throughout the state.
17. Can I do therapy from outside Pennsylvania?
Due to licensing laws, our therapists can only see clients who are physically located in Pennsylvania at the time of their session.
